Commitment by leading technology firm reflects the rapid growth in new HD Radio enabled product development by Japan based brands.
Columbia, MD USA and Saitama, Japan. March 15, 2012 – TOKO, Inc., and iBiquity Digital Corp. announced today the expansion of the TOKO HD Radio™ Test and Certification facility based in the Tokyo region.
TOKO, a leading technology firm in the areas of manufacturing and quality control, through its HD Radio Technology Certification Test Laboratories, has been a key resource for product manufacturers introducing new HD Radio enabled consumer electronics products since 2004. The expansion is in the form of a second full service test and certification bench, which will effectively double the number of HD Radio enabled products that can be tested and certified by TOKO each year.
TOKO Senior General Manager of Automotive Electronics Division, Norio Uchida, expressed the expansion by TOKO is due to the dramatic increase in the number of HD Radio Technology products in development at this time and the plans of its customers in the future. “This past year, we have seen a significant increase in the number of products featuring HD Radio Technology and we have insight into the fact that this pattern will continue on into the foreseeable future. In order to provide the standard of excellent service TOKO is known for, we are pleased to make this commitment.”
Jeffrey Jury, iBiquity Chief Operating Officer added, “TOKO was the first in Japan to recognize the potential of the HD Radio Technology Test and Certification opportunity. We work closely with their strong engineering team and are delighted that the volume of business has resulted in this expansion. It gives us great confidence to know that a firm of the quality of TOKO is working with our licensed partners in Japan.”
HD Radio Technology product development has increased significantly over the past 12 months by leading Japan based product companies such as Alpine, Aisin, Clarion, Fujistu-Ten, Denon, Marantz, Mitsubishi Electric, Onkyo, Panasonic, Pioneer, Sanyo, Sony, and Yamaha, among others.
