Today, there are nearly 2,000 radio stations using HD Radio technology with more than 1,000 new HD2 and HD3 multicast channels, providing consumers in 244 markets with new programming options and data services, while broadcasting in crystal-clear sound. With coverage available to 84 percent of the U.S. population, HD Radio technology is the hottest digital lifestyle upgrade around!

Twelve leading automakers have announced plans to factory-install HD Radio technology in their vehicles, including Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Jaguar, Lincoln, Mercedes, Mercury, MINI, Scion and Volvo.

Rock Out with Kia

Kia Motors is hosting an invitation-only cocktail party prior to its press conference at the New York Auto Show, providing guests with an exclusive preview of the next step in the brand’s design-led evolution. Kia will begin offering factory-installed HD Radio receivers as an option in select 2010 model year vehicles.

The entertainment will feature programming from the legendary FM radio station WNEW, which was on hiatus for almost a decade, but has been reborn for the passionate rock music fan as WNEW 102.7-HD2, a multicast channel of Fresh 102.7 (Level 1, Booth 1400). Originally launched in October 1967 as a pioneering FM station, WNEW rocked New York City for three decades, breaking some of the biggest artists of all time, including David Bowie, Elton John and The Talking Heads. The new WNEW is celebrating its first full year as a digital FM channel. Additionally, musician Bob Mould, former front man for alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü and Sugar, will be on hand for a 45-minute acoustic set.
