- What: The FCC has announced that Best Buy’s Insignia-Narrator HD Radio receiver has won The Chairman’s 2012 Award for Advancement in Accessibility. A ceremony commemorating the awards will be held on December 19 at the FCC headquarters. The Chairman’s Award will be presented by FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski.
- Why: The awards, now in their second year, were created to encourage technological innovation in communication-related areas and to recognize engineers, researchers and other technologists who help the disabled obtain jobs and succeed in their communities.
